Donny Farris Community Garden
A legacy for future generations.
The Donny Farris Community Farm & Garden is a thriving hub of local food production, sustainability, and community connection on Hornby Island.
Nestled within 12 acres of forested land along Sollans Road, this land was gifted on a 99 year exclusive license by Al & Bonnie Dickie - providing residents with the opportunity to grow fresh, organic produce, share knowledge, and deepen their connection to the land.
With over 44 community allotments, gardeners pay a small fee of $10 per year, making it an affordable and accessible way to grow food.
If you are a Hornby resident interested in an allotment please add your name to the waitlist - this secures your spot in line, and helps us gague demand as we explore expansion opportunities.
By adding your name, you’re helping shape the future of community gardening on Hornby Island.

Giving Back:
The Kitchen Garden
The Kitchen Garden is made up of 4 allotments that have been gifted to the Hornby Island Food Bank. Where fresh, locally grown produce and eggs are added to the community meals available at Joe King Park every Tuesday and Friday.
Lead by Jodi Snijders and her team of volunteers these gardens help ensure that nutritious food is available to everyone, reinforcing the power of community-supported agriculture.
We are always looking for Volunteers to Volunteers to help with planting, weeding, harvesting and taking care of the chickens in the Kitchen Garden.
